This ginger jar is marked "Satsuma Japan" with a Japanese character. The design has peacocks with flowers that appear to be mums and cherry or dogwood blossoms. There is crazing, but I am not sure if this was intentional or due to age. In addition, it is missing the lid, but it is still very pretty.
