This pretty butter dish or berry bowl features a beautiful pink floral design on a vine around the bowl, with a gilded rim, bottom & two handles. It is marked "Hand Painted Nippon" with the rising sun logo, which would date this piece from the 1920s - 1930s. It is in very good condition, with no chips or cracks and minimal crazing.
From what I could find online: It's original insert or liner is intended to drain the chipped ice that is placed on the butter for keeping chilled while awaiting to serve you important guests.
